Industry conferences and trade shows are a great way to learn about innovations that increase the productivity of your machinery. Whether you’re in the market for a new Press Brake, need to retrofit your Shears to reduce material handling, or want to learn about the newest Fabrication technology, you can get direct-from-the-manufacturer information and perhaps even see the equipment in use.

How to get the most out of attending a machining industry event

To stay competitive, you need to learn about advancements that are improving productivity. As a starting point evaluate your shop. For example, with a Press Brake, evaluate how well the current configuration meets your shop’s needs. Are manual adjustments keeping up with your production schedules?

Next, when you have identified the areas that you want to improve, look for presenters and exhibitors that have or support the equipment you use. Ask questions of the individuals at the trade show and examine updates and upgrades that fit into your production process.

Sometimes an exhibitor will sponsor a particular event – a breakfast, or a coffee. If the manufacturer you’re interested in has one, stop in. It’s a great way to learn more in a quiet environment.

But don’t stop there. There are hundreds of attendees who may have experience with your equipment, either in their current role or in the past. Make connections and research ways to make the most of your machining process by engaging with people who have applied the solutions in their own shops.
